History of AMI
AMI is the brainchild of Jerome Pepin and Jaramey Ham. WBParts expanded into hardware distribution in 2013 with the introduction of WBParts Express. The purpose of the WBParts Express website was to provide our Aerospace and Military customers with a quick, simple, and secure purchasing platform for their “every day” consumable items. Initially, the focus of WBParts Express was on Aerospace and Military grade fasteners. All of our products have full traceability and will be accompanied by manufacturing certs, test reports, material certs, and DFAR compliance statements as are demanded by our industry and our certs packages that ship with every order at no extra cost.
Jaramey Ham took over WBParts Express in 2015 to help go that side of the business. He saw huge demands for our services in the general aviation community and so WBParts Express started exhibiting at Airventure in Oshkosh, WI. Within the first year, WBParts Express had become the primary supplier to several of the top Light-Sport Aircraft manufacturers. We developed hardware kits for their builders to have all the hardware needed in a nice organized box.
With the idea that the builders would need to eventually refill those boxes, we developed WBEX Pro and included QR codes in all of our kits for easy reordering. These hardware kits soon evolved from LSA Build Kits to hangar kits to be used as bench stock for 145 repair stations and maintenance facilities. The hangar kits were a huge success.
In 2017, while exhibiting at Airventure, people kept asking: “Your hardware system is great and we love WBEX Pro, but can it tell us when to reorder”. That idea intrigued Pepin and Ham, so one night during the show, while having a beer and grill steaks during an awesome Wisconsin summer evening, they began discussing the possibility of an inventory system that would be free to their customer, at moment AMI was born.
During the next year, Pepin and Ham traveled all over the state of Florida visiting maintenance shops and researching their needs, and looked at other similar platforms to come up with the AMI version 1. This version was announced and released in 2018 during Aircraft Electronics Association’s annual convention in LAs Vegas, NV.
AMI was met will great enthusiasm by the community and has since grown with the help of the community. We are always looking to add more features to the system and upgrade existing features to make AMI the best software platform for the aviation community.
